Driveway Sealing Services
It is a common practice to seal coat driveways, asphalt pavements and parking areas during the fall season. The process ensures small voids and cracks are repaired to protect the surface from weather and chemical damage.
What is Seal coating?
Seal coating is typically applied every two or three years to allow the surface to cure and wear better. In areas of heavy traffic, annual coating is recommended. It takes about 36 to 48 hours for the chemical to set and cure. Ideal temperatures for effective application is about 55 degrees Fahrenheit or 12 degrees Celsius for the coat to stick to the substrate, hence there’s no better time than fall to get it done. There are several benefits of seal coating your driveway regularly:
- It keeps your driveway in good condition for longer.
- It protects the driveway from corrosive deposits such as salt, chemicals and moisture.
- It is an inexpensive way of repairing and surfacing the pavement.
- It helps even out cracks, dents and fissures to create a smooth, uniform surface.
At T & R Driveway Sealing, we offer two products: cost-effective coal tar sealers for fuel and chemical spills, and easy-to-apply asphalt emulsion coatings for better protection against chemical spills. Asphalt emulsion coatings also emit less volatile organic compounds than coal-tar sealers. The thicker and more solid the sealant, the better the quality. For larger areas, spraying is better than seal coating with squeegees. A pressure washer is used to clean the cracks and debris before seal coating the surface. Thinner the layer, better the application.
The process is a bit tricky. Cracks need to be patched first. Oil stains need to be removed with the proper tools. If not done carefully, the product will stain other areas. Call our expert at T & R Driveway Sealing for the best, most professional results at the best rates.
